Antithesis
Self liner notes

Why is this album " Antithesis " in the first place?

As the recording was over and the mix went on, I wondered what happened to the album title. Whether to push the identity to the front. At the recording stage, I was planning to take over the flow of the previous work and make it the title "Rezo ~ Prayer ~", but since the impact of the arrangement of this song is strong, then I will overlook this song and other songs will be hazy. I decided to think about other titles.

So I looked over the entire album many times to find the greatest common divisor, and the answer I finally arrived at was antithesis .

Proposing a new theme from a different angle to the main theme.

Since the previous work, I have continued to make it with the intention of trying out all the possibilities.

Lyrics in Japanese only, lyrics in a mixture of Japanese and Spanish, lyrics in Spanish only as before. And composition and arrangement.

As a result, the content of the lyrics and the songs of this work are more diverse than the previous work.

And when I looked back on those things that had taken shape, I came up with the idea that antithesis was a suitable word for the overall title.

I hope that this work, which is filled with the thoughts of each member, including myself, will reach as many people as possible.

When I got this song, it was a completely different song, and after the lyrics were written, it was arranged and the tempo and rhythm changed.
As a result, it turned out to be a cool song, but I think I wouldn't have written the lyrics for this arrangement from the beginning.

Even before I thought about the lyrics, I really liked it because it had an atmosphere like the previous Mañana , and I was pretty enthusiastic about making it a popular song like Mañana. Personally, I thought it was a sequel to Mañana and wrote it.

A smile will energize everyone around you and yourself. You have to degas properly without trying too hard.

When the song was handed over by NANA, the theme that had been decided from the beginning was "Oduduwa", a song by the god of Sant'Eria.

* Oduduwa is the one who controls the mysteries and secrets related to death.

How do you spin the story from there? This kind of songwriting work is often tied up, so I have to burn my hands. everytime. Because each god has a personality.

So the first thing that came out was the Spanish part.

"Does everything visible exist?"

"Isn't the life I think I'm alive really a dream of someone?"

The skeptical character A asks himself.

The answer to A's self-question, which has lost confidence and lost sight of the meaning of life and is trapped in skepticism, is that the Bodhisattva Guanyin speaks to Sharipu in the Heart Sutra. Ai ~ ”.

In this way, the main characters in the form of A and B (Kuan Yin Bodhisattva) who answer it change depending on the scene, so the change in the position where I and NANA are singing in the song shows that.

In response to the question of philosophy, I was surprised when I found this slogan of Heart Sutra, which is probably familiar to Japanese people among Buddhism with a strong philosophical color, as the answer to A. After all, when thinking about this part, I read various ideas of philosophy, read Shinto's congratulatory words, and finally arrived at the Heart Sutra.

So when the members of the Soto Sect / Ippai no Kai who actually recorded the Heart Sutra came to the concert, they were pleased with the work and said that they were excerpting the good points. I was really happy about that.

There was a mysterious connection with the process of having the members of the Ippai no Kai record it, but it seems that this song, which was the last song on the album, was born to be born. I don't feel like it.

I was given time to calmly think about the people, loved ones, and lives that were the subject of "my friends" and "the scenery you were in." This song has become a very important song for me in that sense as well.

I used a lot of hornless words to make the lyrics of the pleasant afternoon of early summer, which seems to be casually everywhere, with the happiness of course.

Personally, I was most particular about the opening and ending SE . At the opening, the turtle dove that was singing by the side mixed with spiders and crows moved and rang at a distance at the ending, and the bicycle passed outside the window. Isn't it somehow relaxing?

I wonder if I'm the only one who feels at home when I hear the turtledove's voice.

Among the songs recorded on this album, the song that was made especially early.

I'll write a good samba! I wrote this song with the idea that the lyrics are based on the theme that is often found in samba and Latin songs (especially Trova songs).

There are many songs that sing lyrics with negative or critical content on a pop melody. Whether it's samba or Latin.

As expected, the chord arrangement made it a perfect samba song!

7 sonora Why is the instrumentation and rhythm a mix of Latin and samba?

It would be fun if everyone could sing the chorus during the live performance.

I thought it would be interesting if I could mix Spanish and Kansai dialect well, so I started writing this song. Isn't "little by little!" Somehow like Spanish?

As for the lyrics, I tried to use the Japanese part of the lyrics that smells like Showa, which no one uses at this time. I was worried about the arrangement after the rap part, but I tried to make it a little 80's scent, maybe it's Latin funk, and give it a point of contact with the Showa flavor of the Japanese part.

Takei-san's Sax is just a wonderful word! !!

But the best listening point for this song is NANA, which cuts with a wah. Did you notice?

In the era of buying music by distribution, what will happen to lyrics as sentences? In the days of records and CDs , I listened to songs and sang together while looking at the lyrics card and imagining the scenery.

For example, the towns and towns that appear in the song. If you don't look at the lyrics, you won't be able to tell which one is the gusset. Lonely and lonely, blue sky and blue sky.

Isn't it becoming nonsense to convey an image not only from the auditory sense but also from the visual sense?

If you listen to this song without looking at the lyrics, it will be difficult to understand the age setting of the main character. If you look at the lyrics and imagine the hero's age, you may hear it differently.

I was finally able to write the theme I really wanted to write from the production stage of the previous work in this work.

At the time of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, I was in Osaka and was not affected by the disaster, but since my parents' home is near the epicenter, this earthquake is not another person's affair.

Even after the earthquake, many people were forced to leave their hometowns and are still unable to return home. It hurts my heart to see their parents. Not to mention losing a loved one. .. ..

Those who have died to walk backwards forever would not want it. At least that day, I have to remember that person and live my life as hard as I can. .. ..

The opening cello is part of Saumell 's song "Ayres del alma " in Cuba in the mid-1800s, quoted to express the groaning of the hero's heart.
