Afro-Cuban cultuer

Introduction

About 10 years ago, the music and dance of Afro Cuban was not as popular in Japan as it is now, and the information in Japanese was very limited.

I was interested in Afro Cuban music such as rumba and santeria from the beginning of Latin music, so I started to research it in January and February when I had free time. It was an opportunity to start writing a document like this.

Although there are many Afro-Cuban-related homepages and treatises written in Spanish and English, as mentioned above, there is very little information in Japanese, and as a result, it has become a task to translate and summarize those overseas information. rice field.

I started to research rumba and santeria, but I became interested in how they came to Cuba and occurred, and eventually the black people who were brought to the new continent as slaves. It has evolved into the task of investigating our roots.

When I started to look it up like that, I noticed that there was a lot of information about rumba and santeria that I originally wanted to look up (overseas), and there was little information about other beliefs other than the Yoruba tribe. I started thinking about going there.

In the end, I couldn't find out about Yoruba because I didn't have enough time, and some of them stopped translating, but even in Japan, it is better to practice the music and dance of rumba and santeria in Cuba. Now that the number has increased, we can get raw information from them, so it seems that there is no need to add anything about Yoruba.

Nowadays, not only in the Kanto region, but also in the Tokai and Kansai regions, rumba and santeria performances and dances are performed in unthinkable numbers a decade ago.
I would like you to visit the venue and feel the power and atmosphere of live music and dance.
